What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is the treatment of injury by correcting and improving the body’s natural healing processes.
In recent times physiotherapy has developed, combining its established techniques with those associated with other disciplines including osteopathy and chiropractic providing a more holistic and hands-on approach.
The physiotherapist will initially discuss your injury while looking at lifestyle and activity which challenge your body and how your injury or pain is affected by your daily activity. This enables us to advise you on how to manage or adapt your activity, to allow your body to cope with the strains you put on it.
This is followed by a physical examination. In some cases, particularly injuries caused by trauma, the examination is quite local to the area of pain. In cases when the pain has developed slowly, a larger region of the body will be assessed, in some cases the whole body, as the body works as one is not in isolation, and a dysfunction in one region can cause further dysfunction in another region. This can mean both regions require treatment.
Posture, movement patterns, reflex mechanisms, strength, a range of movement of joints, swelling and tenderness may all be assessed. This enables us to fully evaluate your injury and to plan your treatment.
The findings of the examination are then explained and the plan of treatment is discussed.

I had a great experience with my physio. I was suffering from knee and leg pain, and they took the time to listen, assess the problem, and explain everything clearly. The treatment provided has really helped, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my pain and mobility within three sessions. Recommend!Posted on Google![]()

I went to see the physio after putting my back out about three weeks ago and was in quite a bit of pain. He took the time to assess what was going on and used pressure, manipulation and stretching to straighten everything out. I was really impressed with the treatment and the difference it made. My pain has now completely gone, and the physio has also given me strengthening exercises to help prevent the problem coming back. Very professional, knowledgeable and clearly knows what he’s doing. I was extremely satisfied with the treatment and would definitely recommend the physio to anyone suffering with back problems.Posted on Google![]()

I fell and broke my wrist at the end of June and was looking for a physio near to where I live who could provide some sessions before my NHS appointment came through. I had 6 sessions altogether which I feel helped me to start to mobilise once the plaster cast came off. Fairways were accommodating of my limited availability due to not being able to drive and provided appointments to suit. Due to full recovery taking maybe 12 months, obviously I can’t say my issues were resolved during this short time span but I’m happy that the sessions have given me some movement backPosted on Google![]()

After suffering a fall that required shoulder surgery last year, I booked an appointment at Fairways after seeing the many 5-star reviews and the extensive experience of the physio. From the first consultation, I felt confident I was in the right hands. With weekly sessions over the following months, I made excellent progress through a combination of mobilisation exercises and electromagnetic therapy. I was also given a clear rehabilitation plan to follow at home between sessions, which really helped to accelerate my recovery. As a result, my consultant was very impressed with the progress I made. After having a poor experience with the NHS-arranged physiotherapy, I don’t believe I would have recovered as well as I have without the expertise and support of the team at Fairways. If I ever need physiotherapy again, I will definitely return and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a physiotherapist.Posted on Google![]()

I’d been dealing with lower back pain that was really starting to affect my daily life. Simple things like driving, sitting for long periods, and general movement had become uncomfortable, and it was beginning to wear me down. I decided to get professional help and had six treatment sessions with the physio. From the very first appointment, the physio was incredibly friendly and understanding. They listened carefully, explained what they were doing, and made me feel completely at ease throughout the whole process. I’m very happy with the results. The pain has improved significantly and I genuinely feel like I’ve recovered well. It’s made a real difference to my everyday life — I’m moving more freely again and don’t have that constant nagging discomfort I had before. I’d highly recommend the physio to anyone struggling with similar issues. Professional, caring, and effective — exactly what I needed.Posted on Google![]()

I am normally quite a fit 76 year old lady who, 8 weeks ago, developed severe back pain on my right side radiating down my right leg to my knee. I was in a great deal of pain at all times - sitting, standing and doing any kind of movement. I was taking high dose analgesia with only moderate effect. It spoiled a holiday abroad so much so that I wish I hadn’t gone! When I returned home I researched physiotherapy services in Tamworth and found Fairways who had very good reviews. I decided to pay privately as NHS physio would not have even been requested until I’d had the symptoms for 6 weeks. I got an appointment on Bank Holiday Monday at the end of May for an initial assessment and treatment plan. I had 8 sessions in all, involving some work on my tight muscles, ultrasound therapy, then heat therapy at each session. The physio assessed my progress at each visit and advised me what I should and should not do between appointments. After every treatment my back pain improved a bit more so much so, that by session 6 I was able to start a series of exercises that would strengthen my back. After my last session the physio who I saw sent me a video of back exercises to do regularly to avoid this agonising back injury again. Today, my back is 100% improved and I’m back to being a reasonably fit, pain free 76 year old ☺️ Let me just say that during the treatment sessions I found the physio so friendly and we discussed loads of topics so the sessions passed so quickly and were enjoyable. Fairways Physiotherapy comes highly recommended.Posted on Google![]()

I have severe osteoarthritis in both knees and couldn’t bend my left knee at all, combined with sciatica on the same side I could barely walk. I saw mr Harris 6 times and there were small improvements each time but the cumulative effect of the treatment meant that for the first time in the last 6 months I can bend my knee fully and walk and stand without pain. I am extremely grateful.Posted on Google![]()

I went to Fairways Physio with issues behind the back of my knee with a constant ache, and shooting pains through the back of my knee. i was struggling to walk up stairs and i couldn’t sit in a car without pain for any length of time. The physio explained that i had inflammation of the soft tissue behind my knee and over a couple of months they have successfully treated and resolved the issue for me. Following the first treatment session i noticed how the aching lessened and the shooting pain was easing. On the advice of the physio i walked a couple of miles each day alongside weekly treatment and I am now to go back to the gym and swimming having received successful treatment on my knee.
